Default Check distributor shaft bearings

I had similar problem for several years. Everyone suggesting I do things to cooling system and catalytic converter. Dumped a lot of money chasing the problem. As last ditch effort took truck to a private mechanic who quickly found the the distributor shaft bearings were shot (bronze journal bearings). He replaced and I've never had a problem since. Apparently the timing was firing randomly +/-10°.

SuburbanStevie, it is a 6.0l lq4 LS engine. It has coil near plug ignition. Crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor and uses an ecm to determine ignition timing. No distributor.
