Did older 4x4 trucks with the same 6 lug bolt pattern have 15" wheels?

I'm keeping my eyes out for a pair of 15" wheels with the 6 lug pattern, but I don't know which model trucks to look for. My grandfather's 97 Z71 had 16" wheels. I know they use the same pattern as the newer trucks, but when did they stock using 15" wheels?

They stopped making 15's when they changed body styles in 1988 for the 6 lugs. Although, Blazers and Suburbans carried the body style until '91 so technically that's the last year.

Have you looked to the newer Colorado's and GMC Canyon's of today? They're all 15x7 with the Chevy 6x5.5" bolt pattern. Many Nissans and Toyota trucks are also 6x5.5" with 15" wheels and big 104mm+ bores.

this is all assuming that what I was told on here about 15" wheels fitting over 05+ rear drums is correct...

thanks for the ideas
