Default 99-06 Silverado 4l80e 4x4 Budget Swap

Well after having problems with the built 4l60e in the truck I decided to set out on a budget 80e Swap. My truck is a 99 Silverado z71 with the 5.3. I’m swapping in an older 80e unit in it so i was actually able to use my stock cooler lines with a little bit of bending. Also the 99 cross member is different and it actually bolts to the bottom of the frame so I was able to drill new bolt holes and send it. I pulled apart the connector and swapped the brown wire to where the white wire is and kept the white wire out of the main harness to tranny. I will post pics of diagram. I was going to swap transfer case input shaft to a 32 spline but I ended up finding a good deal on a 246 case out of a 2500. Honestly so far that has been the hardest part. Here’s all my parts I needed:
- Flexplate w/ Spacer and bolts ATP Z-270- $55
- 4l80e w/ t case adapter, converter, shifter bracket- $400
- Pins for ECM Delphi 12084913- $8 pack of 15
- 80e VSS Pigtail- $10 from eBay
- HPTuners credits- $100
- Misc.- $200

And some basic add ones I did while I was there (extras):
- 4l80e-hd2 shift kit- $160
- T-Case Seal Kit- $15
- U-Joints- $45
- Tranny Filter- $20

Total- $773
w/ add ons- $1013

I’m still yet to figure out driveshafts and the segment swap. I’ve got HPTuners so will figure it out soon. Will post pics tomorrow, not loading tonight. This swap is not as extensive or expensive as everyone is thinking. After driveshafts and all I’ll be in it $1500 max. Will keep updated on driveshafts. BTW it’s an extended cab short bed.

can you confirm that the 80e with a 246 t-case bolted up will not hit the torsion bar cross member? about to do the same swap in my 99, getting a 80e from a 2005 truck

Subscribed. I may want to do this swap in my 05 Sierra. Don't quote me on this, but I think you need the front DS from a 2500 HD.
