Default 14 bolt vs built 10 bolt rear end

as the title says guys..my 10 bolt is going out (bad bearing) and thinking about rebuilding it with better gears and stuff or just finding a low millage 14 bolt from a ss or vortex max truck, i have a 03 rcsb z71 and also thinking of doing the awd swap in the future so what do you guys recommend so it could flow all together and be fast out the hole??

Most guys will prob say the 14 bolt is junk bc of the gov-lock carrier. The 10 bolt has more options as far as upgradeable parts also

From my experience of breaking $hit I have promised myself to never attempt to build another 10 bolt or 4l60 for matter. IMO a waste of money.

The money/time that you will spend on/finding the 14b AXN axle, you could bullet proof your 10 bolt. IMO. Also think of the rear in your truck as the GN rear that many racers look for to swap their "lesser" rears out for. The rears in our trucks are really not that bad, and plenty of members are pushing big power through them

Depends..... I didn't want some gov lock junk in my 14 bolt either so I just redid my K5's 10 bolt. Regardless I was buying gears, bearings and a carrier..... so why bother buy the entire axle over and above that. Not to mention zero fab work in my case and no 8 lug to 6 lug etc.... I doubt I will ever break my trucks 10 bolt as it's not hardcore anything and has a little over 500 hp LS3 in front of it. Sometimes simple works too.

i get what your saying it is a headache doing the swap but will a built 10 bolt hold a lot of power?im aiming for 650-700 hp now but i would like around 1k hp in the future and don't want to be rebuilding my 10 bolt and keep waisting money on it..

If you are shooting for between 700-1K than just spend the money correctly on a well built 9" rear. There are way more choices for the 9" than for the 10/14-bolt combined. The 9 can be built lighter and stronger than 10-bolt.
