Would one out of a 1500hd work i kind of want to keep the disc brakes etc

It will bolt right in place of a 10 bolt.

What do you want to do to it???

I just want a beefier rear end then the 10 bolt

It will bolt in place of the 10 bolt, but it will be 8 lugs.

There was not a factory 6 lug version for these trucks.

There is no 6 lug axles or hats that work with the 8 lug parts that will "bolt on" that specific housing.

You can convert it to 6 lug axles and use 1500 series disc brakes like I have done in the past. But it requires some machining and fabrication skills.
