Default 03 silverado towing questions

Ive got an 03 1500 silverado extended cab 2wd 4.8 4l60e corvette servos with kooks headers and offy y pipe 4.56 gears custom tune etc i am getting ready to use it to tow my 67 comet track car approximate weight of 3300 lbs 1st what are these trucks rated to tow? 2nd are my 4.56 gears helpful or hurtful to towing and the transmission? (Stock 30" tires)3rd would tou guys recommend an aftermarket transmission cooler and if so which one is best. The car will be towed 3-5 times a year between 5-6 hours away so im worried about transmission life and rear end life etc thanks in advance

I'm not 100% sure with the 4.8 but the 5.3 with like 3.73 towing package should have been around 9,000lbs max or so. But thats not a weight I'd ever want to tow with a half ton for that many hours.

You shouldn't have problem towing the car and trailer of around 5,000lbs with the 4.8.

I'd use tow/haul mode for sure, it will likely keep it in 3rd gear alot and it's maybe best to leave it there. The gears should help you out some but fuel mileage is likely to suffer.

Trucool 40k trans cooler may be over kill but will definitely keep the trans temps lower.... I have towed a few vehicles with my 99 with the stock 3.73s and the 4.10s im running now.... When youre on the highway cruising pull it into d(od) to help with fuel mileage but when youre climbing hills etc drop it into 3rd and run with tow haul it will help quite a bit...

Live in flat youll be fine live in hills and that 4.8 will be flat footed everywhere

I towed 5-7k lbs every weekend for almost 5 years with my stock 5.3 4l60e with a stock trans cooler and never had issues. But yeah when I hit a hill it was matted. I just couldn't push the peddle hard enough lol.

Definitely with Wolf on the cooler. I have a little bit smaller B&M and doubt I'd be on the same trans without it.
