Default Wanna try carbon fiber

Does anyone here know anything about working with carbon fiber? I've been doing a lot of reading on carbon fiber infusion and vacuum bagging so I can eventually make my own cf parts. So far the Easy Composites kit is looking like the best. Anyone know better? Thanks!

I do not know anything of the vacuum bagging, but I have done Kevlar, recently did a motorcycle fender lay over with Carbon. Are you looking to make molds ect ?

Ya, I ultimately want to make carbon fiber (or Kevlar) pieces for my '79 Olds 98, and since the aftermarket for '79 Olds 98s is exactly what you'd expect it to be, I gotta make molds of my hood and trunk lid.

Cf work is not the easiest. Vacuum bagging is not so good when the weave is going to be shown as the cf moves around. Thats why wet lay ups are usually the best but require to make the tooling with is. Very time consuming.

Thanks guys. I ordered the Easy Composites starter kit, I've watched those hood videos probably 10 times each, haha! Yep, a dust mask is a must. Lung cancer is a ****. I shovel out lots of grain bins so I'm pretty diligent with that already. I never realized bagging could make the cloth move around but that makes sense! I didn't wanna leave it bare anyhow though, the car is going to be some shade of red. If I ever make any progress on this I'll update this thread and put some pictures up. Thanks for the input!
