Default 4L60E and 4L80E Trans / Engine Stand Adaptor

Had a member request I build him one of my trans adaptors. I have no plans to build any but have no problem sharing how I built mine...

First I determined what size round stock would fit my engine stand. For me, I believe it was a 2" (ID) piece of galvanized conduit purchased at Home Depot. You might have to buy an 8ft stick... or go to your local steel yard and see if they have something that will fit. Note that not all engine stands are built the same... measure yours before buying materials. Next, I found some angle iron laying around in the garage... welded it up to form a box type stick. For this, I'd go with 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" 16 Gauge box steel stock. I formed the conduit in a vice to match up to the box steel. I used, I think, 1/2" all thread for the stubs that mate to the transmission pickup mounts. Took pics for you to determine what you might need. I laid a bead of weld on the conduit to keep the adaptor in position on the engine stand. You could probably drill holes in the conduit for indexing / securing to prevent rotation using a pin. I did not as I don't remember needing it. Finally I took a piece of 3/4" box steel and welded it to the adaptor to prevent the trans from flopping around inside it. This piece can be sized, bent, taped up, or whatever, to allow a 4L60E or a 4L80E trans to fit in the adaptor and not flop around.

I basically built this adaptor on the trans through trial and error as I didn't have an accurate way to determining the distance between the adaptor mounts on the transmission itself... not without making something to measure it. Use the dimensions shown below at your discretion...

Questions? Let me know via PM or email (billreid1@***.net)... I'll do what I can to help
