Does anyone go to nascar, or been to Circuit of the Americas?

I'm really tempted to get out and go see a race. I have never been to a nascar event. I've never been to Circuit of the Americas. On March 24-26 Nascar will be at Circuit of the Americas in Austin. I don't usually care to watch the oval, but I like the road courses. I'm really tempted to go, but I think my biggest problem is I no longer drink. Its about an hour and a half from me, and considering going one day. Sunday the 26th is the truck series. Anyone care to share their experience with either Nascar or with the Circuit of Americas, (especially on where would be the best turn to get a seat)?

My compadre and his little son has been there for a Formula 1 race IIRC. I can ask him what his experience was.

My son been interested in Nascar and racing in general and has asked about going to a race in person. Will be interested in experiences. Texas Motor Speedway or the Circuit of the Americas are closest to us, so those are best candidates.

I’ve been to Cota a couple of times. Open wheel races. Got to walk the pits and check out the cars. Awesome place but it’s $$$$. Looked into taking my charger there for an event and it was something like $6-700. That first turn past the grandstands is a doozy. Fly downhill and then go uphill and have almost a 180* turn.

I've been to Cota for an F1 event with a GA pass b/c I didn't want to be tied to a seat. Spent some time during practice around turns 17, 18, 19 but for race day decided the hill side up by turn 1 was best for me. From there you basically get to see exit of turn 20, any drafting runs down the straight, late braking duals into turn 1 and then they disappear down the hill towards turn 2. Pit exit is also on the front straight so may be some excitement from reentry as well. Nascar not being as fast or nimble as F1, ymmv at this spot. Other than that, the area for turns 3-9 could be a good area for action as the cars have to work through the esses.

The place is massive, wear some comfortable shoes and be ready to walk to get to areas and stuff.

I looked at an F1 event and I thought I remember it was $1200+. I'm too cheap for that. If I had $1200 I could spend on this, I would buy ONE head, and be counting my pennies until I could get the other. I was thinking of just spending $30 on the GA pass on Saturday. I know the truck race is only a couple hours. Would give time to walk around and take it all in. I was going to buy a ticket and saw the observation deck which I would have added, but it looks like that sold out quick, so now there's no hurry.
