Anyone know of a good mechanic in Dallas?

Looking for someone to install new shocks and rear coils on my tahoe this weekend. Don't want to get raked on $$

Would install myself but I don't even own a jack anymore. No garage anymore either.

Funny how that goes... Part of me is jealous.

If its just shocks and coils, I'd be glad to spin some wrenches Saturday afternoon or Sunday early. Send me a PM if you like.

May take you up on that offer.

Got all the stuff in from Rock auto, but one of my front Bilstein shocks is missing the dust boot?? Surprisingly the retainer for the boot was installed, but the boot was missing.

What area are you guys in? I'm wanting to flush and refill the brake lines on my truck. I would have a new set of braided flex ends but that purchase hasn't worked out yet and I can't hold my breath

I'm in Addison. I used to have a motive power bleeder but no more.

Addison is a long way from mesquite. I have a MityVac that I'm going to try out but there seems to be a group that believes manual pedal is better method.

I live in apartments so I can't provide any space for you; did the other member come through?

only shop I have used is North Dallas Imports when I owned a Land Rover. They do good work but price point was higher than I ever assumed possible. Like $100/hour labor and dealership priced OEM parts. I went there twice and learned how to work on my own shit after that. Couldn't afford it.

the work you are needing isn't too intensive. If you can't get help from a member, I would buy what is needed from Harbor Freight and find a place to do the work like AutoZone parking lot, or maybe where your office is located, after work hours.

If you are on a budget, HF sells small bottle jacks for under $20, all you would need is a few blocks of wood to make the most of the jack small stature. I have 1 that I use with a 4x4 block about 12 inches long. Will lift 1 corner easy but may need 1-size bigger model than mine to lift the entire back end. Throw the tires underneath so you don't have to buy jack stands.

The factory tire changing equipment is junk which is why I invested in the HF bottle jack. The factory scissor jack wouldn't get my truck off the ground so you should do some investigating. Do a dry run tire change and see if you have everything needed. When I bought this used truck it was also missing a piece of equipment to drop the spare so I had to find other pieces at a junk yard. Just a suggestion. I'm not the type to call 'AAA' so I'm happy to share my findings.

I haven't done anything yet. Need to get my replacement shock back in from Rock auto. On a side note, I actually put the 4600 bilsteins on my ext. cab and I was never impressed with their performance. But for some reason, I went with the bilsteins again. Hoping for a better outcome this time since they are so highly regarded. Also putting in Z71 springs.

I know this is an easy job, but I'd need to buy a jack and at least 2 jack stands. That's probably around $150, probably similar it would cost to have it done at a shop. And yes I know it's an easy install.

I'm sorry didn't mean to patronize you, I don't want to be that guy. i haven't applied my thought process to being in your shoes, per-sey, and suggesting you do things in a manner which you obviously aren't very keen on. My brother works on auto down in ennis. It's about 45-min from Addison but if you call around and get a few estimates I can get a quote from him for which you can make comparisons. The drive may be worth it depending on your findings. Let me know if I should ask him about it, pricing, schedule
