Default MikeGyver-ed Cable Luber

My Acura shifter cable is bad and the cheapest I could find new is $65+shipping. So I thought lubing it was worth a try since i have a motorcycle cable luber. Well, the shift cable is like 4 times bigger than what will fit in the tool, so I came up with this:

Here, I inserted the spray tube nozzle from a thick, greasy, spray lube.

Here, I wrapped the cable and nozzle the best I could with self-fusing silicone tape.

That was the last pic I could take, because when I sprayed the lube, it did leak around the seal. There was lube everywhere, down my arm even. But I would not have posted pics if it did not work. When I looked at the shift lever end of the cable, some lube made it through. Success! Not only was my idea successful, but so was the lube job. It shifts like butter again, for now anyway.
