Would this mod also work for an '89 C1500? If anyone who has this, could measure the width of his frame, that would also help a lot.

Scored a sway bar at the local u-pullit for $25 and ordered all the hardware from Summit. If I can salvage the end links I'll have less than $85 in the whole project.

I have thought about this but havent been able to find a newer model suv to snag one from yet. Did you use the 3in exhaust hangers like the nbs ones do because they werent really long enough to make work on mine when I tried to install the nbs sway bar on my 09. It seems the axle tube is bigger than the older trucks but IDK maybe its just me. I have a sway bar kit sitting in my garage if someone is local to memphis or just over the bridge in Arkansas and wants to meet up Id sell it for $40. Thats what I have in the kit. Thanks for the advice.

I want to bring this topic back up. I have a few Follow up questions for those who have done this.

Where are you guys getting your 3 inch exhaust clamps from??? Summit???

Has any one pushed this set up hard??? If so, Has had any one had any failures of the exhaust clamps???

If you had to do this again would do anything differently???

While not as inexpensive as exhaust clamps, I used actual sway-bar mounting brackets from UMI when adding a rear bar to my Canyon. They have various size brackets available for different sized axle tubes. They more or less have teeth at the contact point of the axle tube, so as to eliminate slippage after being tightened down.

HMM interesting concept... They look like similar to leaf spring pads.

Your right about the price though. It kind of defeats the budget part of things...

My concern with the Exhaust clamp is that it was made for clamping tubing. The U bolts probably aren't the strongest as well as the pad doesn't fully support the bushing mount.

Maybe I can buy some industrial U bolts from and industrial hardware supplier and make my own mounts at Work...

anybody try drilling the link mounting hole in the bar further down to shorten the arm length of the bar? should make it stiffer. there are a few aftermarket ones that have three mounting holes in them.
