DIY: 2" Drop Shackles on NNBS GMT900
By myself job took 3 hrs. No air tools, which would've helped a great deal.
2" inch lowering shackles for the rear of NNBS Trucks. Other brand trucks have to be similar, but this one showcases NNBS Chevrolet 07-11 Silverados, and GMC 07-11 Sierras. BellTech P/N: 6400 $55 or so AutoZone KnockOff (Works Perfect / Made Well / 1/2 price) P/N: 13-4100 $35 at AutoZone **Note** Torque Values aren't given. Also tighten shackles in the air because this is when you loosened them. I tightened the Shackle bolts to 70 ft lbs and it seems to have worked out great. Hitch and everything else just tight. Here is the link I used when doing this. Complete with step-by-step instructions and HQ pictures. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/inde...owtopic=118247 This job is not major surgery, and I even used the Jack that came with the truck. I did have some jack stands for safety. But if you use a floor jack make sure it gets some good height because there is a step that involves having to get the shackle higher than the frame to get a bolt out. Link to more talk and before and after photos. https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...d.php?t=482685 Hope this helps some people. I think taking the raked look out streamlines the truck. Ride is great and sacrifices very little when towing as seen in the link provided about the talk. |

Finally, some feedback! I was wondering if anyone ever read these... Glad it worked out for you!
 |
Just put the shackles and removed the block on my truck.
Now the front it 1/2" taller. Guess I'll get some Belltech drop struts and drop an inch. |

Got er done ! With your detailed instructions and air, 45 minutes and its 2" lower in the back. Used my Autozone reward card and the shackles were 12 bucks! Thanks for the details. The 7800 Sway bar is next !

Just knocked this out in a little over an hour. lowered it down an 1' 1/2 in the rear, will be removing the factory lift block tomorrow to level it up. It already looks 10x better than before. Thanks for the great info!

really thinking about doing this to mine, I hate the rear being so much higher.
only negative thing I can think of is launching in 4wd, the front will wanna lift easier with the rear lower right? |

I also coat my bolts with anti-seize so if I ever have to do something later its easy to remove (like when I did my flip kit 2 years after the shackles) great write up though! |
