Truck stereo question

Just get a new deck. The stock unit sucks and will not give you the full benifit of using good aftermarket speakers.
If you absolutly must use the stock deck then an SVEN4 or SVEN2 (Peripheral) will allow you to convert from high to low level outputs and run an amplifier. Cost is about $35-$45

Where can I purchase an SVEN4 or SVEN2 ???
thanks for your post ...

Ahh, I would still replace the deck. Even with stock speakers. Or at the very least add some "caps" on them. The caps act as a high pass filter so it reduces the amount of bass the midranges see and it will allow the speakers to play louder and sound cleaner. You don't want BASS coming out of your mids.
Almost any "high to low" converter will work but I like using the SVEN2 since it is adjustable. Some of the non adjustable ones will put out too much or too little signal for your amp to work with or they are just so cheap you get noise.
Almost any stereo shop should carry Peripheral products, even some of the chain stores do.
You can also check out the Peripheral website. Any shop that deals with AAMP of America can get them for you.
Good luck with the install mate

That's why i like to use aftermarket decks. Most of the decent ones nowadays have high pass iflters built into them. They have a much better slope (12db vs 6db) and they are somewhat adjustable.
But you can still put caps on your stock setup and it will work great. Much less distortion and less risk of blowing stuff up.

try something like these inline filters. they reduce the bass to your stock speakers.

Aye, Crutchfield has em as well as any decent local stereo shop. They should only cost you between $5-$12/pr.
Get ones that will crossover you front speakers at about 150hz since it's only a 6db per octave slope. Get ones that will crossover the rears at like 250hz if you have 4x6" speakers in the rear doors. Actually do the rears at 250hz no matter what size they are. LOL
As long as your stock speakers are 4ohm (non Bose) then you would want to use a capacitor value of:
Cap..... Xover frequency
Front Speakers= 265....... (150hz)
Rear Speakers = 159....... (250hz)
Then try setting the xover on your subwoofer amp to about 80hz and see what that sounds like. Try lowering the xover setting and raising it a little and see where it sounds best too you, not neccesarily the loudest, the best SOUNDING
