Suggest me a setup for singlecab
#1
Ok so i just bought a singlecab 00 truck couple weeks ago. It has a box for two tens in it already and i have a highs amp and sub amp.
The highs amp pushes out 35x4 and the sub amp pushes 374 rms watts.
So i need some good sounding highs 6.5 componets and 4x6's for the behind the head speakers.
Also need two tens that can truely hold the power the amp pushes out. Not just a sub with a nice number on the box like the kicker cvr's have on em.
So please suggest away on what i should be looking for or maybe tell me your setup?

There is a bunch of different things you can go with personally i would do 2 jl w1's there a nice little sub and put out a deep low bass and will probably be perfect for your amp and as far as mids and highs go you can do jl components for a reasonable price but i would not do 4x6 they are just going to scream in your ears thats just my opinion.

Drop the 4x6's. They are right beside your ear and ruin your imaging and sound terrible. Put that money towards your front stage.
We need to know a few more things first. What kind of box? How big is the box? What is the resistance of the amp? Probably 4 ohms? What's the mounting depth on the sub box? What kind of music do you listen to? Are you going for SPL or SQ?

Ok so no 4x6's. Guess i can go nicely priced on the fronts then haha.
I'm not goin for pure loudness but i do want it ta hit nicely.
I'm goin to run the amp in 2ohm stero mode and at that it pushes a solid 370+watts rms.
It's a old school premier amp and the damn thing will destroy a lesser woofer like it's nothing.
The box has around .70 maybe a hair more airspace.
I was looking at the mtx 7500 10's to hold up to the amp and they run bout 200 each.
Just want to get some suggestions on what will work well in the truck and i won't have to worry about blowing a sub every other week.

Stereo? Can you run the amp in mono?
IDQ are very good woofers. Get two 10" 2ohm DVC subs, and you'll be golden. Versatile box options so you can switch it up if you want to.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/IDSIDQ10D2V2 about 350 for two.
35 watts isn't a whole lot to push components. Would you look at getting a new amp for them if I can keep it all under 800?
Here is a kick *** amp:

Right now your at about 500 plus or minus a bit for shipping. There's a lot of components that are good right now, but "good" is different for any person. Are you an audiophile with a amazing home system, or do you just want something decent?

Ok so i checked the box and it has a mounting depth of 5.5 deep.
Here is what i am thinking....just get two 10's and call it a day and hope they make me happy.
Or i can get a box made same mounting depth but make it hold three tens rather than a amp in the middle of the box. I'm starting to lean towards this option if i can get a ohm load to work out with three subs for the amp.
On the highs amp i have it's rated at 35x2 but it pushes 78rms watts by two at 4ohms.
So i think i'm good on the power there.
Now i went to a shop today and they were talking major Memphis to me. The componet highs sounded great. Very loud and very clean sound even pushed at peak volume levels they didn't break up at all. He was running them on a amp pushing 75watts a channel and sounded great. Little pricey at i wanna say 350ish but i'd be willing to spend it on some great sounding highs like they are.
So what ya think? The highs i heard sounded really great but if you can suggest something else i'm all ears.
Then what would you say on the subs part? I'm leaning hard on the three tens right now but i could also grab two for now and get a box and another sub later down the road?

Were the comps mounted on a wall or in a car? It's good you heard them, if you liked them by all means do it...but search online first, you'll probably get them cheaper. What was the model number?
You can do 3 subs but I wouldn't recommend it. Your already low on power for 2 subs, and going to three will only give less power to each sub. 3 DVC 4 ohms will give you 2.67 or something resistance, and that drops your power even more.
Not worth it IMHO.
Stick with the IDQ's....trust me they are kick ***.
