stereo install help.
 

i installed my stereo a few weeks back. and all has been good untill about a week ago my remote wire for my amp quit working. it was tapped into my dimmer switch. because this was the only switchable 12v i could find. does anyone else know where there is a switchable 12v that would be ok to splice for a remote wire for an amp?

is there not a blue wire for remote or antenna?

Your Aftermarket Radio should have a Remote Wire built in... Its a blue one...

If not, I tapped into the fuse panel... Pulled the fuse out for the Wipers and wrapped the wire around the fuse and stuck it back in... Ghetto, but it works...

or you can tap into the pink ignition or orange accessory wires under the steering column....although there should be a blue remote turn on wire in your aftermarket radio harness as stated above....

i dont have an aftermarket deck. i just installed a hi to low converter for my rca's this is for subs only. sorry for the confusion

then i would do pink ignition or orange accessory at the black box just below the steering column. just make a little 10 or 15 amp inline fuse for it and your set.....soldering will give you the best connection if you have an iron.....

have put many remote turn on's here on the 03 + trucks and have never had a problem with it....

would a fuse be nessary becasue my amp has a fuse in it already?

The amp's fuses do nothing other then protect what is inside the fuse.

I don't think the amp draw would ever get high enough to short that wire out, but in case of an accident it would be wise to put a 10 amp fuse on there.
