Remote start, GM or aftermarket?

I haven't paid for Onstar for a while but the features if you have a 2011 or new and a smart phone are pretty badass. The remote start is the best thing, unlimited range is awesome. I was 2000 miles away for work and the wife borrowed my truck in the middle of winter and texted me to start it as she was walking out of a sporting event to the truck. As long as you have a signal you can start, lock, unlock and all that fun stuff.

I put aftermarket remote start on my 2001 and have factory on my 2011, aftermarket remote start is so much better. DEI products are great! I broke down and got myself a DBALL and range extender from DEI so I could increase the crappy 10' range for the factory remote start. What's the point of remote start if it doesn't work from inside a building?? Stupid if you ask me. For the record, I didn't care about alarm, just remote start. DEI range is craaaaaazy long, even on their lowest models.

I didn't realize they had all that smart phone app stuff. That's pretty cool really. You can install that aftermarket too but no need if you have onstar, if you don't mind the $25/month fee.
Edit: after re-reading other posts, I see some of this has been mentioned. Oh well. I wish I would have known about the app during my free trial period.
