kickpanel speaker problem

Alright, so i got my kickpanel speakers put in about 2 months ago. i took the boat to the lake on monday and was loading it on the ramp and found out i dont have an emergency brake. i havent used it till now so i never noticed but now my pedal only goes down about half way because of the speakers in the kickpanel.

i really had to pull hard to get that thing out of park and into drive cause all that weight was on the transmission, i figure that cant be good for the ole' stock 60e......

my question is.....has anyone tried or think that i could space the e-brake pedal out from the kick about 1 to 2 inches so i can put it all the way to the floor again? this is the only thing i can think of to do cause i dont want to get rid of the speakers......

I say remove the whole pedal assembly....cut it then cut it again then wled it back together so it's not too long.IMO.

well i dont think the length is the problem it is that it cant go all the way to the floor because the speaker is in the way

here is a pic...

the pedal arm hits right about in the middle of the large speaker grill....i dont know that i can shorten it enough to go over the top of it?

I'd say take a measurement and see how much of it is too long. If it's hitting the speaker then it's too long for the system setup now.
If you can't shorten it enough then i'm not sure really.....i had mine break on my 93 s-10.
I could pull the wire itself to make it work and then i had to hand release it.....pain in the ass i can tell ya that.

If the e-brakes are working and adjusted properly, the pedal shouldn't go all of the way to the floor. Mine goes about 1/2 to 2/3 the way down. Maybe try adjusting the ebrake first...might save you from some fabricating.

ok, i will try that first.....

Your Supposed To Bend The Pedal Some If It Contacts The Speaker.

i have the same problem. i just don't use my e-brake anymore. i can see that is not an option for you though.

i usually dont use it either but figured i should on a boat ramp so i would like to try and fix it somehow....

i will be going to my dads shop to mess with it tomorrow morning and see what i can come up with.....
