Anyone Have a Stock 2003-2006 In Dash AM/FM 6 Disc CD Changer? What to do to Swap?

Do they all have the Bose amp?

Do they work without the Bose amp? With no amp? Like the other stock in-dash CD?

Do they work with an aftermarket amp in place of the Bose amp?

What all is necessary to swap out the stock single CD for the stock in-dash 6 disc?

Anyone maybe have one they'd like to sell?

Thanks Guys!

I have a 2003 Silverado SS that came with the single disc bose CD player.

I got a used in dash 6 disc changer form a member and it was a strait forward plug and play swap. The only thing needed was for a dealer to unlock the CD player using a tech II tool.

I fairly certian bose or non bose the GM 6 disc changer is the same.

Can I simply swap my single single disc unit out for a 6 disc unit.

...without having to add an amp?

Anyone done this swap?

Or do the 6 disc units require an amp? Seems that all the 6 disc units are Bose which have an amp, so I'm wondering if they won't work without the amp?

No, the bose and non bose are completely different. The bose receiver has no built in amplifier and the non-bose one has internal power. You can put a non-bose in a vehicle with bose (certain years, some have a strange volume control circuit though) but the door chime will be HORRIBLY loud, like you can't stand it cause it hurts and it will cause early failure of the bose amplifier since it is overdriving the input section.

No matter what you must have the dealer mate it with the correct vehicle since it ties into the class 2 databus.
