They are now owned by Dell. Back in the day when they were their own setup they were the flagship laptop and you truly got what you paid for(spent $3400 years ago). Unless you are serious hardcore gaming I would look into one of their XPS lines. I replaced my $3400 Alienware that was 3-4 years old with a $1200 XPS that was a basic model and it runs circles around the old Alienware.

What do you mostly do with your laptop, what size you looking for and what's your price range? I can spec one out for you if you like.

I use my Asus netbook every day, school, tuning, recreation. Not the fastest thing in the world but it does damn well. Battery life is usually 12+ hours. I enjoy the sleep function...after putting the computer to sleep, press any key and its back to 100% in about 3 seconds. Very handy for looking things up quickly, or less delay time if you want to fire up the laptop at an intersection and begin scanning with tuning software in traffic. lol

Yeah, well i am a dell guy, i have had 3 laptops, 1 dell desktop and 1 dell server, 1 dell B/W laser jet, and 1 dell color laser jet... I don't buy any other brand that is why i was looking at alienware. I knew back in the day they were the best, but i have lost touch since my old nerd days....

This is the laptop i am looking at buying, seems like a beast for the money. I like the dual drives... I am just not sure about Windows 8....
