Default 2007 Classic HD cluster issue

Hello,
the instrument cluster on my 2007 Sierra Classic seems to not operate when it is cold. I had it rebuilt locally with new stepper motors and the connections checked and everything seemed fine until today when my truck sat out in the cold for a few hours. The back light for The instrument cluster would come on but I would have no gauges and no driver info center. Besides possibly being a bad connection with the plug is there anything else that could be causing this problem?

Try cleaning the grounds that are on the body mount beneath at the front of the drivers door. I had weird issues with my daily driver of 200k miles where it would turn the cluster off and flash all kinds of warning lights. I cleaned those grounds and resecured them, then sprayed black paint to keep it protected. Zero issues since that was done. It's worth a shot on your truck and only takes 10mins max

There's more to fixing the cluster than just replacing stepper motors. There are a couple of key areas that need to be fixed in the board as well.

i had a similar issue with my Tahoe when my power supply took a dump. You’ll see a bad solder joint in the power supply next to the driver info display. The power supply is super cheap. Just solder a new one in.
