Default TorqStorm Supercharged 08 Silverado Build Thread

This 2008 5.3 Silverado is one of our employee's personal vehicles, and has been a pretty cool little project.
We started with just a dyno tune on our Mustang Dyno and HP Tuners.
After that we kind of lost control. We convinced him to do a BTR cam swap, and Texas Speed long tube headers and x pipe.
Hey, while we have it apart, let's port the heads some!

He was thinking ahead with the cam choice, a BTR / LJMS stage 2 turbo cam, with the plan being going turbo down the road, but that plan changed, as they do.

The truck was running fine and made 281whp (stock was 224). The transmission was hurting the numbers on the dyno, its a stock 4L60 4X4.
Then, our friends at TorqStorm Superchargers paid us a visit since their shop is less than an hour away, and we decided to use this truck to design an intercooler setup for their current blower setup.
The intercooler is similar to our turbo kit intercooler, with the only differences being the BOV/Bypass valve flange, and the aluminum piping from the supercharger to the IC.

While we were installing and designing the intercooler/supercharger system, we upgraded the fuel system with ID 1050x injectors and a Walbro 525 fuel pump.

With everything installed, the truck made 455whp and 503wtq on the mustang dyno. This was on 93octane with a stock
catback, converter, and transmission, only running it to 5500 rpm.

So, a few days later, who would have guessed that his transmission went haha! So, that's where we are at as of now...
Coming soon will be a built 4L60 and converter and E85 with Flex fuel sensor

Full list of modifications as of now:

BTR stage 2 Turbo cam kit (
chromoly pushrods, dual valve springs, steel retainers)
ARP head studs
LS1 / LS6 head gaskets

Ported 243 heads
DOD delete
LS7 lifters
Texas Speed long tube headers and Y pipe
ID 1050x injectors
Walbro 525 Hellcat fuel pump
Torqstorm supercharger kit with
bypass valve
ATI Fluid damper
Strictly Performance (SP) intercooler kit for S/C
SP Intake for Torquestorm with K&N filter
SP Battery relocation kit with wiring
SP Coolant filler neck relocation kit using a Moroso coolant neck
LS7 / LS3 Cartridge style MAF
2 Bar Map sensor
SP coolant overflow reservoir

Day 1 for
base line pulls made 224 whp and 249 wtq

Draining fluids...

This truck was the definition of boring.

engine
torn down for the cam swap, DOD delete and head work

Did a valve job while the heads were
off, since we have the equipment in house

Decked the heads just enough to ensure they weren't warped

Heads are back on and
cam is installed

Headers getting ready to go in.

Added a cheap cold air intake to get by until it got boosted, as this is his daily driver. The red valve covers make it faster right?

Here Is a Full video of the cam install and dyno:

Our tuner Zach doing his thing. The truck made 281
whp 277 wtq after the cam, long tubes and slight head work.

ID1050x injectors and flex fuel sensor going in

supercharger setup with the bracket ready to go!

Mid install admiration

Here is the finished product as of now.

Arthursc2, if you look closely at the last picture you can see the overflow reservoir cap in the corner by the headlight.

We fabbed up a sweet 4" bed exit exhaust using Vibrant Performance tubing, muffler and resonator.

... It doubles as a flame thrower.

We haven't got the beauty ring back from fab yet, so bear with us on that... This thing sounds great!

Video of it on ice

Its all about the little details

Looks pretty trick the way you did the exhaust.

I like the intercooler support too. Nice touch!
