Uninterrupted Build Threads??

I just scrolled through a 74 page thread trying to follow someones build thread. Of course less than 5% of that was actual posts from the builder. :sigh:

Idea from another forum I saw was to start UBT'S(Uninterrupted Build Threads). This allows a poster to create a build thread from start to finish without all the comments and "subscribed" posts that litter everyone's email when someone has posted to it.

Of course this will have to be made with the help of a moderator or something. Giving the poster the ability to be the only one to post to it until it is complete. I believe this would cut down on all the wasted posts and make threads more readable.

What say you? Can we get some help to get this rolling. I think it would be very helpful on PT.net:headbang:

I kinda like that idea. It would keep the nut swinging to a minimum.

Love the idea!

On the car forum I am on, the OP can close the thread during the first post.

That way only he and someone of a higher power like an admin/mod could post in said thread.

This forum runs a similar format, so it's likely in the functions already.

Well hell. If someone has a question about a certain thing we ask.
If its a closed thread then no questions. I agree that some posts are kind of a waste but not all. Plus how else will they finish the project without the mandatory "any updates" lol.

Let the person finish the build thread. Then they can answer questions. It works flawlessly on another forum where people modify their cars for whatever reason. It would also give the person a chance to edit their threads before the questions and quoted pics start rolling in. Again, this would have to be set up with the OP and Admin before hand. These are for HUGE build threads and not for a simple picture install. It's a great idea for "HOW TO" threads as well.

I, personally, have had people post to my build threads before I could even finish the whole thing. I was still uploading pics to several posts. I didn't want to make one HUGE A$$ posts. This was not on PT.net btw. I am new here and thought the idea would be cool.

Yea makes sense.

Yup, that saves time. Pretty helpful if the replies are segregated when these build threads are updated.
