modded lt1 with t56 swap in 06 silverado
Hello y'all! Im pretty new at this site. i am currently in the process of doing a unique swap. im putting 95 lt1 and t56 into my silverado. im not worried about the wiring for the engine dash, trans ect. however the trans has got me thinking. i dont really want to spend $700 on the mid shift conversion, but yet i dont want to lose my center jump seat, i use it pretty often. i was wondering if anyone on here would have an sugestions. i have seen the center console set up i love the look, but once i again i dont really want to lose my center seat. all advice is welcome. if anyone is wondering why i chose the lt1 instead of the ls, well i got the lt1 and t56 for free.

depends what year t56 you have.

I have the complete power train out of the 95 Camaro.

Your better off installing the combo in something lighter and older. Keep the LS power and move along.

My truck is a 4.3 with a 5 speed. It's junk! My lt1 is all forged, cammed, ported intake and heads, and I also have a vortec supercharger kit. Power and weight isn't an issue. I completely rebuilt the trans. Steel shift forks, brass shift pads and all new syncos ect. I agree ls is the way to go but I have this motor and trans I'm going to use it.

run whatcha got I think it would be fine.
You would need to do more T56 mods to have it bolt to anything modern, since LT1 T56 is different than LS1. I agree about the mid shift conversion being a waste of money, but don't see how it's $700? T56 6 Speed Transmission Parts & Rebuild Kits |
The transmission will mount in the same location as my nv3500. I have all the wiring harness for engine and trans. I was getting 700 because of the cost of labor to install it. I have rebuilt my trans and done a lot of other things but I don't want to take the risk and mess something up when installing the midshift. This was a project my dad and I started about 6 months ago and he pasted away due to cancer. I want to finish this swap for him.

It's really not that hard to install at all.
If you can rebuild a T56 you can definitely do the midshift conversion. |
