Denali awd dyno/ front ds removal?
 

Ok I have an awd Denali truck with awd it's an 06 classic. Recently it was told to me that you can just remove front ds and do dyno pulls, not drive around and stuff but just dyno on rwd dynos. Is this true? Does anyone know you can do this with out damaging t case. Wanted to see what you guys thought before I did it, sounds like expensive gamble

Not a good idea. You will hurt the viscous coupling.

Didn't you already have it on a dyno?? Use the same one.

FWIW a new Viscous Coupler alone Is like $800 from GM. I believe they can be rebuilt for just under $400 as a local shop quoted me that price.

This is why I will not dyno mine.

Ya that was a few years back I dynoed it that shop has since closed. And thought I was gonna be able to dyno it but the truck is about 2-3 inches too long. It will fit on the rollers but the back tires are on the back side of the rollers and the fronts are on the front side of the rollers. The tires are about an inch or so off the dyno surface. It's just not a good idea I don't wanna be on one of those YouTube dyno fail vids lol

I hear ya, some pull the front shaft but I don't suggest it I don't care what anyone says. I have seen enough issues over the years.

Ya I will just have to wait I guess the guy that street tuned it said he's gonna get a new building and when he moves the dyno he's gonna get the extension to be able to dyno the big awd trucks like mine so I'll just wait for then. The truck flat out screams it's pretty nuts for 5000 lbs to move like that! lol you can tell its heavy tho. I tuned it on 89 octane and I'm gonna make it a flex fuel when I boost it so I can put aggresive tune in.

You can do it. You just can brake. You have to use the dyno brake. Head over to silveradoSS.com. There's a write up, you just have to do some digging with the search function. Normally the NGV149 will cook, but if you use the right precautions you'll be fine.
