The Delta and a G20 were the only 10s any of the local shops had when I was spending insurance money. It was a 34000 acre wild fire that took out 2000 of our homes in a rural county. Most of the gun shops were doing their best to keep inventory on the shelves. They tried to get us what we wanted but somethings you just had to compromise and take what you could get. If memory serves it was also during the time when DW had stopped building 10s.

For a while there just wasn't a lot of 10mm options. It's definitely becoming more popular. Lots of options out there now.

10mm, absolutely. 1911, not so much. i picked up a Tanfoglio Polymer Stock III (or EAA Witness Poly Match Pro) earlier this year and fell in love with it. I've never shot a more ergonomic pistol, and the low barrel axis makes 10mm recoil more than manageable with some skateboard tape and practice. I've also put well over 1000rds through it without even a single hickup...... like zero malfunctions.... at all. i can't even say that for my shield or any Glock i've ever owned.

When i get a chance, i'm dropping it off at Patriot Defense in Houston to mill for a red dot, because this pistol is way more accurate than i can be with iron sights..... and i can already consistently shoot long-ways beer cans at 50yds.

How these aren't insanely popular is beyond me.... maybe EAA has **** customer service or something. i dunno.

Thompson Auto Ordinance 1911 .45 Replica is what I carry. It's not the fanciest or the prettiest but it gets the job done!

I pulled the trigger (pun intended) on the Rock Island TAC ULTRA FS 10MM. It will be my first 1911, and my first 10MM. where is everyone finding good ammo (price & quality). just target lead. I'd like to buy 500 rounds for break in. buds has the pistol for $610 and all of the online reviewers are shocked at the pistol vs value of this gun. it's just a fun tree stump killer for me.

for anyone looking, Selway Armory has 10mm 50rd boxes of S&B ammo for 13.99 if you pick up 10 boxes. 28 cents per round (+shipping) aint bad.
