Ironically the LT1 engines have gone the same way.

Virtually worthless now.

I can not believe what a used 5.7L LS1 still commands on the open market...

There was a reason the lt1/lt4 platform was as short lived as it was, that damn optispark distributor was junk!!!

I know....... Guys pay retarded dollars for LS1 blocks.... and then like an aluminum Gen 3 or 4 5.3 is still pretty worthless....... Hmmmm...... lol. Guess that extra bit of bore size is all the difference in the world haha.

So you get the idea what I am talking about with the 3rd line in my signature haha.

Shhh! Don't let the cat out of the bag...

I scored an L33 yesterday because of it...

They took the injectors, the head light/fan harness, The transmission, the ECU and a few other things but left the engine...

As we were pulling it, we had a few looky loo's swing by.

I was asked, How do I know if the engine is even any good? It looks ok, it was wrecked which means it was still being driven. It was probably still running unlike the ones that come in complete and have been sitting. Also, I can just tell Oh, Good point I didn't think about it being wrecked and still be a good running engine...

I was also told it wouldnt work in my truck because the coils are different... Oh darn, I guess I should just walk away then. By they way how did you know which coils were in my truck???

Hey, did you know there is another engine that's already out on the ground over there why didn't you just grab that one? there all the same.... I like this one, it smells better

Now I am not sure if they really are that stupid/Ignorant or if there just feeling for information. Some of these guys make a living this way by reselling some of this stuff.

At another yard, I Had another guy that get first dibs when cars come in and I know He makes a living of this stuff tell me, you know I heard that thing when it came in and it was knocking really bad.

It was an LS1 long block. I told him that's fine I just need a couple parts off it. I had already pulled the pan and inspected it. It was likely piston slap he was hearing... But he didn't know that... He also didn't know the Oil pan alone was worth the price of the long block I purchased either...

Well let me rephrase that I guess for here. The L33 seems to command a premium from most people too... but any LC9 or whatever... like $250 for a long block that ate a lifter. Funny because guys will pay stupid money for the intake and heads... and then the gen 4 4.8... my word... free... or a $100 bill hahahaha.

And ya know of all the engines i have replaced cams and even pistons in in the past year, working at the dealer, they were all worth repairing and running with, and i think i saw 2 or 3 4.8s that had issues and usually just broken springs.... most were lc9/l96/l77 only saw 2 6.2s the enitire time.... a 13 l9h and the l92 that is now in my yukon... please let me find a yard around here that is getting some of these flood cars...

My truck had a TC replaced and it would shake the whole truck b/t 30-70mph. The tech diagnostic it by applying 100% line pressure. Once it was 100% applied it stopped.

No joke on the LS1 Commands.. I'm not knocking it at all, but there are better options imho. I cant tell you how many classics ive seen with a LS1 and you always here them telling everybody that the LS1 is the only way to go... I'm over here like what about ls3,ls7? Not to mention a LQ4, lq9, LY6 and the truck version 6.2!
