Did you do the Sonnax 4-5-6 apply piston kit? Yeah I have talked to Mike about these transmissions and he should be able to tune it but I have no experience or know anybody that has.
Alot of the parts are the same... But the 6l90 cases are longer to accomodate the extra clutches in the 4-5-6 drum and 1-2-3-4/3-5-R drum as well as the taller rear planetaries.. Although i think i read somewhere in si that the number of clutches in them are application specific, not sure if it meant 45/50 vs 80 vs 90 or if it meant that a 6l80 in certain applications could have extra clutches...
I count 6 frictions 5 steels 1 wave plate. Are there other 6l80 aplications that have more frictions from GM? I also noticed that they are all coned, even with the Sonax apply piston. I don't know how much max pressure the tune has but a clutch pack that is coned doesn't seem like a lack of pressure would be the issue?
Coning is a combination of excessive heat and pressure.... How does the 4-5-6 hub itself look? Too much pressure can be as bad as not enough, may wanna check the seals on the piston and the sealing rings on the shaft....
Wait a minute..... As you stack it should be wave plate, steel, friction, steel, friction, steel friction etc, so you should havea wave plate, 6 steels and 6 frictions and then the backing plate

Thats kind of a loaded question, best answer ethically is to replace the seals eveytime, logic says since they are mostly o rings, if they havent been run very long use your judgement and do what you feel confortable with....that being said the valve body to case seals are a bit of a problem area, those i would replace.... But pump o ring and such if theyre not cut or flattened you should be fine...
The valve body to pump and center section seals in particular is what I should have said....so those need replacing then right? Ahh hell I will buy a seal kit! Can you get me a part number for a 2014 6l80 seal kit please?
