5.3 cl motor had melted lifter trays

Default 5.3 cl motor had melted lifter trays

Hey guys I just bought this motor off craigslist and when I pulled the heads off the lifter trays on both sides were melted!if somebody got this motor that hot what are the chances that it is a good rebuildable core??

I haven't heard of one of these blocks being bad from over heating it, it's the heads that don't fair too well when a head gasket pops.

If everything else checks out and the block is still straight, it should be alright.

Ok cool yea the heads are trash and there was water in the cyclenders on bank 1.Yea I was gonna do the 4.8 pistions in the 5.3 set up with the motor and I only paid 200 for it with all new bearings

I mean I'm gonna put all new bearings it didn't come with it

I don't think so I was there when he pulled the harness and intake off and trans but the water pump was gone when I got there I'm guessing it was bad I'll post pics tomorrow its crazy.I googled it but the Internet has never heard of melted lifter trays lol.I pulled the oil pan and drained the oil no metal shavings but the oil was blacker then black with very little chocolate milk at the bottom of the pan

Could be the possibility of where the head gaskets could have popped and escaping heat from the combustion chamber had melted the plastic
