350 L31 Comp Cams.
So i bought this really clean 1998 K2500 that has less than 90,000 miles on it, and then I basically cleaned it. 350, 4L80, 14 bolt. So before everyone says swap a LS into it I already have the suburban with a someway nasty LS engine in it. Having only ever messed with LS stuff (millennials problems) I'd like to keep the old school 350 in it.
Still can't believe how well it cleaned up.
So tossing the CSFI injection for MPFI spider injectors, long tube headers, EGR delete and Dyno tune were my 1st thoughts, but what about a cam? I know I have to pull the heads and have them sent out for machine work so the valve stems dont get destroyed.
As far as what works, does any GEN 1 small block Hydraulic Roller Tappet cam work in these? Any issues with mating to the stock distributer? I'm not looking to set the world on fire and I figure the Xtreme 4x4 Comp Cams 210/214 duration, 0.474/0.474 lift, 111 LSA would be a torquey combo. The intake stops flowing badly after 5,000 rpm anyway.
Anyone see any issues I would run into with this?

Thanks. Yeah I've been trying to hunt down a 96-00 454 NV4500 parts truck. Fairly difficult. Figure a 300+hp 350 will do for now.

That cam should work really well. I looked at it myself for my Z71 but went with the Comp 206/212 .480/.487 110 and retrofitting LS6 valve springs. I've also done a 411 pcm swap and would highly recommend it especially to make it HP Tuners compatible.
And btw, rocking the LS style springs, you don't have to machine the heads. Do a search man. LS6 springs or your preference, 787 retainers, and LS locks = Aces

Clean truck, I really like the look of those tail lights with that body style and color.
Don't know anything about 350's (millennial problems for sure!) but I'll follow this build because your suburban is sick!

The cam mentioned is too big for the stock intake manifold. I had good luck with a 206/210 on 110 LSA ground 4° advanced, it was a replacent for a production LT4 cam 203/210 on a 115° LSA.
I am now running a factory GM 395' cam that is 196/206 @ .050 on 109° LSA. Running it with 1.7:1 rockers but it also ran well with 1.6s. The stock injectors are barely adequate for the baby 300 HP marine cam.
Mine runs very strong for being wrapped in a 3-ton Express conversion van. I am running doug thorley tri-ys, custom exhaust, a marine intake and coil per cylinder ignition as well. My gears a re a bit tall with the 4L80E and 3.73s in the 9.5" 14-bolt.
This was with the stock GM B82 converter.
This is with a 10.5" 2,600 converter.
