Default LS1 Conversion in my 89 K5

Ok.... So since I've been able to confirm that I can put the LS1 from my Camaro into my k5 Blazer I was thinking I can stroke it to a 383 and back it with a built 4L60 or 4L80E since this will be my tow truck. I know that I can use a wiring harness from Painless... but where can I get the motor mounts and trans mounts? Also, since it's 4x4 what will I need to change the driveshaft length? and what else will I have to do to make the Transfercase functional?

Get a 6.0 and put a blower on it. That would be awsome. IMO.

I kinda want to go NA on this one.... because I'm definitely not on my Camaro.... but I'm trying to go NA on the truck but I'm going to keep my options open... an LS2 would work too... my main concern is where to get the motor mounts, what headers I can use.... etc...

Just in case its going into an older truck. I'm with him though, a great 6.0 block may be better, especially if your going ot sink some money into it, maybe the lq9w/ the 4wd tranny? Drop in some torque and have fun!

Makes sense... thanks for the link. I found the mounts... not sure if I want the LS1 or LS2... I've already got the LS1.... just planned on rebuilding it to a 383 for more towing TQ.... along with a few goodies and such...

Well i just put a 6.0 in my 73.. i was lucky to have a friends bare trany and adapter to mock up.. we just placed the bare case and adapter and bolted it to the crossmember marking a reference point.. im not sure what t-case ur running but the 205 is a good choice.. im Sure Advanced Adapters makes one for that setup. But once that was good we took the stock chevy clamShells left those bolted to the frame. then took a piece of plate and bolted it to the block.. we then placed the engine on the clamshells and bolted the engine to the trany.. Did some shakin and checked to make sure it was level then tacked the plates to the Clamshells and pulled it back out and welded them up.. With doing that i was able to use my stock DriveShafts and everything lined up.. the motor sits pretty close to the firewall but theres still clearance..

use the 4l80 trans the 4l60 is a weak trans. they make adapters to mount the old style mounts to the LS1 bolt pattern.
