What size tires for 20's?

A friend of mine just bought a 2006 2wd RCSB and he wants 20's. What is the best size to stay close to stock height and keep full turning radius with out rubbing?

I run 18's so I have no clue what will work.

Here's the e-mail he sent me

"Yeah I was thinking 20's with a 245-255 tire maybe a 40-45 profile...I think they are 28-29" tall at worst case 30"...if this thing get lowered or the turning radius if compromised it kinda defeats the purpose...what do you think the "ideal" size is?:
-20 with a 245/45 tire
-20 with a 255/40 tire
or?...just wondering...I'm gonna grab some wheels when the truck comes in (?????) so I wasn't sure if one of your buddies or an internet connection might have the right realistic but cool combo"

Closest to stock height will be a 275/45/20. I think a 285/50/20 looks best on a stock height to a 2/4 drop. The 285/50/20 is also what comes on the SS's and VHO's. I am not sure by the email, but is it lowered, or are there plans to lower it? If so, how much? Also, if lowering is in the future, backspacing on the wheels becomes important.

275/45/20 w/ 2/4 drop looks good.

josh, why didn't you ask me?

anyways, 20's with stock height. perfect size is 265/50 for stock fender gaps, looks wise, and it's the same diameter as stock tires, so speedo is the same. now, if you wanna use tire for gear 275/45 or 275/40 ( what i have, 28" tall ) is good, but the fender gap gets bigger. even with my drop, i feel 275/40 still has a lil too much gap. but it's what i need/want.

285/50 is a 32" tire. too damn tall.

For performance, I agree, but with a stock height to a 2/4 drop it fits best IMO.

Here is 99silver6.0's truck with a 2/4 and 285/50/20s

275/55 comes on the Silverado SS and the Vortec H.O. Its a 32 in. tall tire. 285/50 is 31 in. tall. That's what I have on my truck with a 2.5 in. rear drop. Closest to the tires on the stock 16's is a 275/45 which is 29.6 in. or 265/50 which is a little over 30 in.

Here's mine:

285/50's are too tall, you might as well have a 4wd with that tall of a tire IMO

I would say the the 275/45/20 is the best tire to go with...

The truck was ordered with 3.73's so he doesn't need the extra gear it's gonna be his daily driver. He's got a 300HP 1959 Turbo Bug for racing. I think he's looking for a nice looking tow vehicle. Hopefully he'll chime in here.

Jake you still coming over for beer ... I mean a tune tomorrow?
