Unhappy Removing minor pings?

I know there are paintless dent removal services, I've used these guys with some incredible results. But has anyone ever done this themselves?
I watched the guy do it to my last truck right before I traded it in and it looked pretty easy if you have some dexterity. All you need are a few rods bent to some different angles with rounded tips and it looked like a leverage and finesse kind of operation, not rocket science.
The reason I ask is painful to admit, but I just dinged my drivers side door with my company car door
The truck had no pings on it since new in 02...kind of pissed but it was long overdue for it I guess.

I am curious also. Some pings in my fender from a rock thrown from a car during a burnout at the dragstrip. There is a local guy "The dent doctor" that does it but he is incredibly difficult to get hold of.

I tried to "massage" a small crease out of my r/f fender and ended up with a big crease and a bunch of dimples Had to call the Dent Wizard and it's not totally noticable, but it's still not perfect from the damage I caused when I attempted the "repair". I still haven't perfected my bodywork skills obviously
