Have it powder coated. Paint will chip faster then hell, even with a etch primer.. Inorder for the paint to hold up the slightest you will need to SAND all the chrome away :( Major PITA.. Best bet is to sell that bumper and find a WT one to have done. Again powder is the only way to go IMO

i have a buddy who did it to his nnbs truck. front and back bumpers. He scuffed the chrome, used a self etching primer(this is the key), painted them, cleared them, and wet sanded and polished them. looked great, and better than the factory paint. rattle canned it all!!

What did he scuff them w/.? And how long did it ake him just to do the "scuffing"? Cause I'd think that would be a huge time investment (the scuffing, not the rest) or just flat out annoying as John said.

x10 on powdercoating.

I just had my front and rear bumper powdercoated.

The front bumper i got was already a painted Z71 Tahoe bumper, my rear was my factory chrome bumper.

I had them sandblasted and coated gloss black for 98$!! and this place does nice work, they did my dads 55 chevy frame. You can hit it witha hammer, no chips. Paint will chip.

I'll post pics soon as i get it all bolted up, had my upper and lower valence painted also and grille/ mirror caps. Goodbye chrome!
