Default How to clean up oxidized alternator?

I got a free 145 amp alternator and i want to clean it up a bit. There is some white looking oxidization on it and its a lot more gray than my stock alt. Is there anything i can do to clean it up?

just throw a wire brush at it, then finish it off with a red scotch brite pad, or if you want it a bit cleaner hit it with a green pad.
