had my windshield replaced....

well I had my windshield replaced with genuine GM glass I purchased in advanced which is a total PIA btw because none of the better glass shops want to install glass you didn't buy from them................... then came to find out it had a deep scratch which we buffed out but left a slight distortion (no big deal as it is covered most of the time by the wiper blades) but when I went to re-assemble the truck found out some of the trim doesn't mount back up correctly.......the windshield was installed to high off the frame and not perfectly centered (understand I am a picky SOB) so now I'm going to get it redone with new glass and hopefully it all works out this time:eek2:

I wish I'd have done it myself:bang:

yeh windshields are a huge racket. Tons and I mean tons of profit margin in windows. You took that profit away and they could have cared less how it was installed at that point.

What PIA.

Talk to the manager & tell him that you want it cut out & reinstalled correctly. If it's not chipped or cracked, it can be removed without damage. Tell him up front that if they break it, they will have to replace it with another GM glass.

They should've done it right the first time. I'd bet he has a "senior installer" doing the job this time.

How hard is it to do? I would imagine it's a two person job at the minimum?

I have helped a buddy at his body shop install a few, nothing too major, cutting out the old one was kinda a PIA.
