I have a soft cover by LeBra. It is the snapless kind that rides on a rail and also hinges open on 2 hydraulic hatch thingys. I love it because you get the best of both worlds. You can just undo the cover in like 2 minutes if you need to haul something big like an appliance or motorcycle and it is very light weight as well. I got it from Summit racing for like $250. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow, but right now there is like 8" of snow and ice sitting on it!

I like 03's cover. I already got scratches on mine, and it is only a week old!!!!!! And it picks up dust like a static rod. I have waxed it already to help on the dust collection, but it is like a black hole for dust, nothing, not even light can escape the dust build up capabilities of my cover!!!

The plus, hard covers can be locked, to stop the opportunity thief, also may save your tailgate from the bandits. Keeps the bed nice and clean and water tight. The weight helps smooth out the ride. Less people throw their trash in your bed. Plus they look freakin sweet to me!

The negative, hard to impossible to remove by yourself without scratching the bed and the cover, a lot of stuff wont fit under the cover, collects dust and scratches easily. If you move stuff a lot and actually use your bed, the soft covers that roll out of the way are far more practical. Still keeps your bed clean, people wont steal what they don't see, and still no more trash thrown in by people at the mall!!!!!!
