? about putting sub in 04 LT truck with boss stereo
My buddy just got a 04 ext. cab silverado with every option including boss stereo and on-star if I put the sub under the rear seat,
1 can I hook it into the head unit or do I need to get a new one 2 do you need to do anything special to change the head unit, I have heard before that you can't cange the ones with on 03 and newer 3 doesn't the boss already have some kind of sub in it if so what sould be done with that thanks for the info |

The 03 and up stereos either need to relocated or a kit must be used. 3. Some do, some don't. 4. It's Bose, not boss. Boss is another aftermarket brand name that is pretty low end. |
I'm not too sure what they did at the radio place, but I ran 2 10's with an amp off my factory head unit. No relocation of the head unit necessary

yes, it is possible to run an amp with subs off a factory headunit. need to splice into the rear speaker wires and route it to the amp. this usually takes the place of RCA cables. amps sometimes come with a wiring harness that plugs into the amp so you can attach the stock speaker wires to it. i heard the same thing about the 03+ trucks and their headunits too. not sure what is involved to get an aftermarket CD player in there

If you are using the On-Star option you can't change your head unit cause on star runs through the factory stereo, but like they said you can run a hi-lo convertor and hook up an amp and some subs.
