03 Wrecked, Starting over with an 07

My 03 4.8 Turbo truck was totalled last fri night, still waiting on the insurance company to figure how much Im getting from the whole ordeal. I went ahead and found my new truck and brought it home today. 07 5.3 truck with 23k miles. Its a head/cam, built trans/3k stall, longtubes, dual magnaflow with x pipe, 4.10 gears. Truck fully loaded, has new leather seats and console out of a tahoe. Heres some pics, truck belonged to a 70 yearold man, so its not beat at all. Needs some touches here and there but overall a really clean truck. Hoping to buy back the old truck, so my turbo kit, etc will be transfered over to this one.

Nice new truck! Sorry to hear about your old one though... Got any pics? It was a stepside wasn't it? I have a soft spot for those haha

70yo man with a heads/cam, long tubes and built trans truck?
yep, still digging into it, this guy was pretty cool
Cool. I need to upgrade the interior on mine, i like the way urs looks.
Do you know what heads and cam it has? I'd bet it runs hard as it sits too. Almost sounds like it may be a better candidate for a procharger...

I called the shop that did the work, they said this was done several years ago. They had thought that it had PRC 2.5 5.3 heads on it, and decent sized cam, they said the last thing they did was tune it for 4.10 gears, because the it had 4.56s. I have to say something is off though, for one the converter doesnt lock up until 65mph, which I hate, so its constantly stalling driving through town, Ive been watching trans temps and they havent gone over 150, 170 when I left it idleing for awhile. Also its very sluggish, like all the torque management is still there. I should be getting a retune this sat and figure out whats already done to tune. I pulled the inspection cover on the bellhousing, and it has a PI vigilante, just not sure on stall speed, guy thought 2800, it flashes to 3000 though. Ive looked at the heads, they still say 799 on them, so maybe got sent in to PRC to be worked on, I dont know. I notice little stuff like MSD wires, some discolored longtubes, coolant bypass is there, airraid intake , dual 3" into x pipe, into dual magnaflows, into resonators. I have a feeling it needs to be gone through in the tune. DOD delete was done, so Im assuming the lifters were upgraded, aswell as the valve springs, etc.

Im buying the 03 back from the insurance company, 95% of the important mods are still good, the turbo kit on it will need intercooler and piping though.Im going to rebuild it, or pull everything and find a replacement roller, and continue on. I do not want to race the new truck, its too damn nice in my opinion, and should be plenty for driving back and forth to work, once retuned.

That pic pain s me bro. But the 07 sure do looks purty tho
What a shame! IMO, the 99-07 trucks are the best looking and built trucks to date, but that new one is looking super clean.
Thanks guys. I will buying a roller 99-06 to replace the 03. All my parts will go on that. The new truck is too damn clean, and I will just daily it anyways.
The 07 looks awesome, sorry about the accident that lead up to you getting it though. I am currently looking at a 2011 Silverado RC for a daily driver. Do you have any info about the drop and how is the ride? I want a lowered stance with as minimal effect on ride quality as possible (I know there will be some). Are the wheels 20"?
are you going to be parting anything off the wrecked truck?
I bought a red 2000 sierra for a donar truck for all my good parts off the 03 silverado. I really wont have anything left to part. I have build thread on here showing the swap over. I bought the 07 to build up, but after bringing it home its really to clean, and has plenty of power for daily driving. This way I will have dedicated "fun" truck and a daily.

The truck is dropped 2/4 right now, but sits lower in the rear. Im going to put 2" drop knuckles up front. It has belltech 2" drop struts/springs on it, and looks like just drop leafs out back. |
