Red face Same problem

I have the 2000 Dakota with 4.7L v8. It would die at stop signs, etc. Sitting still, you would speed up engine and let up and it would die. A mechanic cleaned the inside of the throttle body and I put a can of NAPA $8 cleaner in gas tank. Voltage is ok. It is much better but still dies on occasion.

Is the Throttle Position Sensor and the Idle Air Motor the same thing? And if not, which one might be causing this?

Are they hard to replace? ( I am not a mechanic but can do simple tasks.)
I bought this truck new and it now has 29,000 miles on it. Don't use it much Mostlly short trips. Do I need more gas tank stuff?

It seems as if others have had this same problem on 2000 Dakotas.

Default

it could be either one and if you can get to the throttle body sides and have torx bits you should be able to change them your self. the idle air control and throttle position sensors are different sensors. the problem with mine was the idle air one time then like 20k later it was the throttle position sensor so i would change them both. good luck
