Turbo 03 RCSB Street/Daily Build
Just got a 03 Silverado 4.8/5spd with 175k miles in pretty good shape a few months ago. Been tossing around the idea of putting a turbo on it and making it a fun daily street truck. (Or supercharger if I find one cheap) Not looking for anything huge at all, thinking like a 70-78mm turbo, 60-80lbs injectors, Walbro 450, and a turbo cam/springs. Truck already has a posi with 3.73s in it, and I’d like to keep the 5 speed. Heard they can handle some abuse pretty good but not fast shifts, which I’d be ok with . Then possibly but a t56 or 4L80 in it when it goes. Seen a couple guys builds with the 5 speeds have some good luck and fun and I want this. It’ll be a pretty slow build as funds come along but should be fun.
I found some ltz wheels to help the look and ordered a 3” drop control arms and 4” drop shackles/hangers. Don’t really want to go lower since it’ll be my daily driver.
But here’s when I got her and getting the ltz wheels on.

Looks good! I daily-ed the same thing your going for, for about 2 years (including thru winter). Mine was an '04/rcsb/5.3 w/ ls6 cam/80e/on3 7875 on a flex-fuel setup. I would still have it if I didn't hate winter driving it in snow. I would suggest keeping the 5speed unless you want to do a ton of drag racing with it, it'll be way more fun as a daily. I also ran about 10psi on the stock cam for a while, and honestly liked it alot more than when I put the cam in due to the solid mid-range torque with boost+stock cam.

And quick newb question. I plan on taking the bed off soon and doing the suspension stuff. Was wondering, while the beds off could I put a Walbro 450 in the tank and drive it without any problems from fuel system? Got a truck intake with return and regulator, just wondering if any problems would come up on stock setup with the Walbro..
