Steve-O

I'm taking it back a bit, but was there a write up and part number list for the brake upgrade? I'm also guessing that when after this upgrade happens factory 16" wheels won't fit anymore

***** so I find it's a no go on the 16" wheels. But did you only upgrade the front? I see the newer trucks run single piston

You are correct, with the brake upgrade you can't run 16's any more. I only upgraded the fronts when I did mine. Will do the rears at some point.

Default Tire size

So back in April I got a call from a friend of mine asking me if I wanted to participate in Truckin' Magazine's Throwdown. i've actually wanted to get into the event for the last two years but the truck was alway down when it came around.

After I said yes I realized there were a few more mods left to be done before, so upgrading brakes front and rear and wheels and tires got pushed to the front of my to-do list.

I upgraded the Front Calipers and rotors to the 05+ larger ones, EBC Green Stuff Pads and EBC Slotted rotors as well as Russell Performance Braided Stainless brake lines. Also painted the Calipers and Brackets to match the Chevrolet Orange on the engine. I used VHT True Orange Caliper paint which matches pretty well.

The 105,000 Mile stock brakes, Still +50% on the pads.

Rotor Comparison 12" vs 13"

Russell Performance Stainless Lines:

Front's done:

And the rears:

The truck stops much better now.

I wanted to get a stickier tire on next that would help with more than just straight line. So I decided to go with Nitto NT-05's. The new tires meant new wheels that had to be 18's so I jumped on Craigslist and found a set of Nissan Titan 5 spokes and got them mounted up.

Next up, Truckin' Throwdown.

What tire size were you running at this point?

Yea, PB hosed a lot of good threads in here. I was going back thru this one last week looking for some info and the broken pics made it very difficult to scan thru. I actually had to read to find it.

Yeah I have a lot of bookmarked threads that are pretty useless without pictures...

This whole 'reading' thing to figure something out is total BS... haha

I'm slowly going through and updating my thread, but it's going to be a while. I have a ton of pictures..
