Thumbs up New Toy - Turbo 6.2 Camaro

I'm so impressed with my truck and absolutely love it I decided to leave it as is and get another car to race around with. Sorry Trick! lol
2016 2SS A8
Single Turbo SBE LT1 built and tuned by New Era Performance in Rochester NY

It was pulled off the Dyno when it cruised past 700 wheel. Snow melted and salt washed away so I started stacking miles on it. Drove like a summer cruiser around town for the family and unleashed hell if you wanted. It pulled harder than I woulda thought coming from a 9 sec/ 145mph cars. We double checked everything on the dyno with warmer weather and welds/drag radials and it made something like 730. I put another 1K miles on it and finally started getting some decent “summer” weather.

Long story short, I made a mistake during a race and it cost me the motor. I bought an upgraded short block and cnc ported lt1 heads.

Short block:
- brand new GM LT1 Engine*Block
- Stock wet sump Crankshaft
- Manley H-Beam Rods
- Manley 2618 Pistons 10.5:1 compression
- ARP Rod Bolts
- Premium Total Seal Rings
- Clevite Bearings
- Professionally Balanced
- ARP Main Studs

I went with this combo to support my goals. I'm not looking for 1k wheel but a healthy power level with some comfort of mind it's got some decent parts in there. With a better bottom end and lower compression we should be able to actually work the turbo. It was making great power with minimal effort at 10psi before. I'll differ to my Tuner for how we are going to approach this. Either steps of 100 hp increments supported by track results over the year or jump right back into 700 something, put some miles on it and then go up from there. I'm not sure I needed better heads but Gtrain's ported heads are very close to TSP's numbers and cheaper.

Man I have really been looking at 2016 ZL1's for a toy car. But man this has me thinking maybe I should be looking SS's

I'm guessing you would suggest biulding the motor if boosting a stock LT1

Depends on your goals. As many have said, 700 wheel on a stock lt1 is in the red zone, esp if you didn't gap the rings. I'm going with forged because I destroyed the long block and starting from scratch, ebay pull outs were 7-8K. built short block and new heads were a little less...so f it.

Nice. I've been eyeballing the 6th gen for a while. I even considered offering up my 69 pro street Camaro as a trade for a 2017-2018 ZL1. I just cant bring myself to let go of a car that appreciates for a car that depreciates.
