In January I bought a 2004 GMC VHO, it had a blown motor and 180k miles, so I got a lq9 from a 05 Escalade from lkq. While it was apart i installed a Denali cluster so i could monitor trans temp, installed a tru cool 40k trans cooler, a trailblazer torque converter and corvette servo. I also installed a fan set up from a 05 gmc and a k&n intake.
have ~4k total invested so far. Im pretty happy with the truck but im a little concerned with its track times. I took it to a local 1/8 mile track with the factory 20s. Ran a 9.5 at 77mph with a 2.3 60ft.. easy launch. Ive since ran a best of 9.0 at 79 by swapping to 26x10.5 M/Ts, still only a 2.0 60ft wot foot brake launch. I had a friend turn on my fans by using hp tuners, and we saw it had a tune on it, previous owner mentioned a hand held of some kind. But we are not experienced tuners so we left it alone. Any insight on setting up a better tune would be greatly appreciated. Guess you'd like to see it.. Its been a journey but its been a great truck so for the 4 months or so ive been driving it. I did however blow the g80, and replaced it with a Eaton tru trac, |
Missing pistons are okay.......... ;)
Looks like a cool project you got. |
Great trucks! I love mine.
I did some research on these a few years back. Vho Research - VHO/V-Max General - SilveradoSS.com It looks like you have 1 of the 228 GMC's for 2004 Any other plans for it? |
I loved mine when I had it. With a Radix, long tubes, built 80e, and 4.10s I ran consistent 8.0s
