Default My rebuild thread

Now that I've actually started putting things back together instead of tearing them apart, I figured I'd consolidate all my crap into one thread.

For those that don't know what happened, I lost #7 piston. Best we can figure is that poor cooling around #7 caused the piston to heat up too much and expand in the bore. Motor came out and went back to Rex and Richard at WCCH.

I'm also taking this opportunity to do some more upgrading. I'll post pics as I progress. Here's what I have so far:

New fuel setup will be a -8 main feed line stock evap line and stock return line. I pulled the trans a few nights ago to remove the stock feed line and run the new -8 line. It has not yet been connected at either end...waiting on the intake manifold for the engine end and waiting to get all the crap out of the bed so I can lift it and finish up the fuel bucket end.

Here's where it will come out of the tank

New fuel filter location

Routing around the trans crossmember

Follows the stock lines under the trans tunnel

..and up into the engine bay

On the fuel tank side, I want to run a -6 line to each fuel pump, then bring them together into a Y. Undecided so far if the Y will be inside the tank or outside.

Engine side, -8 main line will split into a Y and run a -6 line to the rear of each fuel rail. Lines will come out the front, meet at the FPR, then connect to the stock return line and back to the tank. here is the basic setup, sans a few parts (rails and one 90* fitting)

Reinstalled the trans yesterday and converted the cooler lines to all AN to get rid of the clusterf**k of splices between AN and hard line I had in there before. The old hard lines also rubbed my idler arm when turning. This should be much better.

1/4" pipe to -6AN fittings in the trans, 90* -6AN to hose barb, -6 pushlock hose

through the engine bay

and into the cooler up front

Do you not run your tranny cooler in series with your radiator?

Also did the hydroboost conversion while the motor is out.

Here's how she sits now....bed is all loaded up with the extra engine parts

...the empty engine bay

I also decided to remove the under-bumper reverse lights I've had for several years

Before

After (I've dropped and debadged since the above pics as well)

New plans also include a Vic Jr intake manifold, 4 barrel throttle body, carb hat, much cleaning and re-wiring to clean things up, coil relocation, and SBC-looking valve covers. I want my engine to actually be worth showing off for a change....never had that before

I replaced the radiator awhile back and got one without the trans cooler.

looks like you've got a good start on it but a whole Lotta work to do. what is the advantage of the 4 barrel TB?
I guess it's true that every dark cloud has that silver lining. what's really cool is that you are going to have that bay looking like you want it. Don't take too many short cuts and make it purty!

BTW, how in the blue $^*% did you manage to keep your nails so nice and clean is that a hobbit thang?

Looks like you have a lil work ahead of you..
I did the same thing with my trans lines.. Pushlok FTW!!

If i were you i would put the "Y" on the outside of the tank, just incase it happens to leak?

I like your setup man! And you still havent got that filter in the right direction..

No shortcuts this time around!

I lick my fingernails when they get dirty. Keeps them purdy and tastes good too
