installing new motor...
Attachment 80363
Runs very will with the stock 5.3 software but need a tune, it some times dies and you can tell is very held back. No check engine lights on and factory fuel trims running about +3. running 93 octane until I get a tune but haven't had any knock counts. Who would be a good mail order tuner, I live in longview and don't trust anyone here. I most likely will be going with Nelson Performance in San Antonio. I have factory 05 electric fans and harness to install also after tune.

Did you upgrade injectors and/or fuel pump if your truck is not e85 capable? If not you will want to do that with the larger displacement and cam. Sounds like a great swap!

Using stock truck intake and injectors off the 04 system, none E85 capable.
later if I find and free intake off an 07 up I'll swap it.

I commented in your other thread but if you want to do mail order tuning give Zippy a call and if you don't have access to HP Tuners you can license it on mine and I'll load the tunes and log it for you.

You may find, once you get to tuning it, that those injectors are maxed out with the increased cubes and upgraded cam just FYI. May want to get a set of 8.1 truck or marine injectors and have them on hand in case you need them (or throw them on before the tune to be safe). Also, at least a 255LPH pump would be good too......

Nelson's Performance over here in Texas would be a good choice as well!

All great advise, I'll be checking on the 8.1 base injectors, I used neslon when I lived in Austin, but being 6 hours away now I don't see me driving to get a live tune. I think my best bet for me is save a get my own Hp suite software so I can data log and email to others and then start learning to tune myself.
