Thanks. I'm putting the exhaust on up to the mufflers this Saturday. Then i'll finish the exhaust out the back when i get my four link and new rearend in there. After my exhaust on saturday i'm going to do the interior work and get it all back together. So hopefully within the next week or two i'll have some pics of what i decide to do with the interior. I'm either putting a center console in it out of an avalanche or build a custom one so i can have some subs.

Awesome Job!!! That's how to make some power!

Thanks man.

Sunday i looked into the problem of my gas gauge not working. When i order my fuel cell i got it with the standard GM 0-90 ohm sending unit. I found out when I test my stock sending unit that it is a 40-250 ohm. So this is what I did to fix my problem.

This is the stock sending unit off the side of the housing that the pump is on the stock tank.

This is what i cut off

This is the fuel cell sending unit that i already took the sending unit off of.

Here i've drilled and mounted the factory sending unit to the fuel cell bracket.

Wires are reconnected

reinstalled and works great now.

Dam... that build is totally nuts.. how much power you shootin for? Any E/T goals?

And why a viper 6 spd? why not a GTO or TA/Firebird unit?

Regency04 Dec 15, 2008 11:39 PM

Well with my 4.8 i had almost 500rwhp so i figure with the 408 i'll have at least 800rwhp. I went with the viper 6spd because with the GTO or TA unit to upgrade them to handle the power it would cost around 1500 to 2500 bucks. and one of the main upgrades is the viper tail shaft. To upgrade my viper 6spd it costs like $500. And at the time the TA 6 spds were going for 1200 to 1500 bucks and i paid 2k for the viper 6spd. which was almost brand new.

Cool build.

Great info on getting the fuel level sending unit to work. I've often contemplated on ideas to get that to work and your solution is so simple I feel dumb now. Thanks.

Nice build and write up! The viper trans is a new one on me. I've heard they were much stronger.

Just me maybe, but are you concerned about fuel pump noise transmitting into the bed. I'd probably try to isolate this somehow with rubber mounts.

The noise isn't bad at all. I used 1/8 inch rubber washers on top and bottom with a 3/8 bolt and i drilled the hole for it 1/2.
You can kinda see it in this picture. I can't hear the pump while the truck is running.
