I'm trying, I'm trying!! Just waiting on cam decision, going to see what Patrick G recommends. :) I may have the heads on this weekend if not it'll be done no later then the end of September.
Trust me this is bothering me more then you think. Just have to work around the funds. :( |

:) :) :)

Nice! What made you give up on the LQ9 idea?
|
How much it was going to cost in the long run, I can get a complete running LQ for half of what it was gonna cost. Also I figured that the 5.3 tore threw 3 transmissions so it's a damn good running little motor. If I'm not happy with this I will think about going FI.

I can only hope that I'll be done by then.
|
All you need is a cam, right?
I swapped my heads in a day, so heads and cam swap shouldn't take any longer than a weekend even if you run into a problem or two... |
Yeah just a cam and I just waiting to receive the information from Patrick G as to what cam I should get. :)
My buddy that is going to be helping me said that we should have the heads done in a day and the cam the following day. Do you know of any where that has a dyno that will fit my truck? ACA no longer has a dyno. |
There's a few places I know of with dynos, but I've never actually been to them. So I wouldn't know if full-size trucks would fit on them. There's Verocious Motorsports in Wilmington, Race Proven Motorsports in Claymont, and some other place that a friend of mine always talks about...
|
The guy helping me do the work, he works at Race Proven Motorsports and ge said that dyny won't fit my truck. I'd just like to get a before and after HP/TQ numbers to see how much I gained.

UPDATE! UPDATE!
The swap was done last weekend. I decided to go with a used cam from a friend of mine for a good deal, it came out of a Camaro. I have photos that I am uploading now, I will post them in a few. Noticed a incredible difference in power, still tweaking out the tune but its a real blast to drive now! MPG Sucks but I will not be complaining. :D |
Also I have the EFI Live AutoCal that I got from Justin at Black Bear Performance and it has been a learning curve with in it self.

Attachment 147496 Attachment 147497 Attachment 147498 The new heads on. Attachment 147499 All back together except for a few things. Attachment 147500 First start up at about 8PM Saturday night. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...h_0998f768.jpg Just another one open header and chit tune. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...h_5b934237.jpg Herders welded back up. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...h_ee2fd8e8.jpg I will be going to the track soon, but I will wait to after OC Cruise weekend. :) Here is what it sounded like before the cam swap just for comparison. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/k...h_ba9b3b66.jpg It took about a total of 14 hours from start to finish, would of been done sooner if it was not for the bolt going to the oil pump from the pick up tube. |
Nice build bro.
|
Sounds good! Care to share the cam specs?
|
Sounds real good RJ, I'm interested in those cam specs too ;)
|
Thanks fellas! It's a Thunder Racing 224/224 .58x lift on 114 LSA, works well with my converter. :)
|
what size is your converter? sorry if i missed it but i have very similar cam specs. nice build, i wanna do some heads and intake myself soon.
|
Man, I know where your coming from, getting parts one by one, and looking at them all the time, waiting starts sucking real bad. lol.
It's basically the same story of my build. Sounds good, now get us some track times! |
I'm running the trailblazer I6 converter.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:59 AM. |
