I scored a set of Raylar gen 1 aluminum heads that have been reconditioned/ and repaired. I guess they had an issue with leaks under the seats on a few of them. These were repaired the right way it seems. I'm looking forward to a actual performance head. It has had some minor port matching I'm told. I'll take pictures when they show. Also a set of rocker arms and associated pieces and guide plates were included in the deal.

I may have located a block from a friend that I intend to use. I'm Hoping it will clean with .030" over bore. I have decided I'm going to take a little stroke out of the engine, it will be a 4.250 stroke, and this will allow me to run a longer 6.800 h beam rod in it and still have a 1.311 compression height on the piston. I will be running a 14cc dome and run 11:1 compression static. Will loose about 8 cubes but I think it will help slow the piston down in the bore some with a little rod/ stroke ratio. Will be a 490"

I love the idea of the shorter stroke. If 490" arent enough to get it done I quit...

What are you going to do for an intake?

With no downstream O2 sensors, deleting cats was a must, and I can say even on the stock tune, she breathes A LOT better. Next I'm picking up a junk manifold to cut open and modify, EGR delete (possibly repurpose the egr for the PCV), and then finish the exhaust off with a factory 3 1/2" tailpipe (Walker 55241). For now, the exhaust is at a stopping point with a factory 1500HD (6.0L) Y-pipe, and an eBay universal 3" resonator to cut down on the rasp, and just a turn-down for now.

Many years ago our family had a 3500 8.1L extended wheel base Savannah van. We had heads and cam reworked. Stock exhaust and manifolds. The thing was ***** fast. Way faster than anything that size with 13 passengers should be. It would turn the tires over all day from a stop. Hope you enjoy your big block project.
