Picked up the black bumpers up from the powder coater today. They look good but not as shiny as the truck. I waxed them with mothers and now the match is very close. Painter is a couple days behind. He has a black Tahoe in for rear collision damage and won't paint it till tomorrow or Friday. Since he's painting them at the same time the trim will cost very little to paint. We sanded the chrome with 220 grit. He'll prime it with an etching primer then an adhesion promoter before the paint. It should come out spot on. The plan is to get the bumpers back on tomorrow and the grill and light trim on by Sunday. We're ready to see it in blacked out form.

Trim looks great until closely inspected. The painter didn't use a booth and there is minor trash in the trim. we tried wet sanding but it was way to easy to burn through so we've touched it up as good as possible and will eventually go with a new factory black grill and aftermarket black trimmed lights. For now it's good and time to start thinking about traction and go fast goodies for the engine. Pictures could have been better.

Hey guys- was just rereading this thread (lots of great info!), and JUST noticed the bedcover- could either of you tell me the make/model of it? Thanks & good luck on the '2.0' build!

Getting flex fuel conversion in a couple of weeks, plus a few other tweaks. First race is 3/5 - Texas Muscle Car Challenge.

Waiting to sign up for drag week.

The bed cover is okay but my son was saying last week he would prefer a flush mount hard cover. That's way down on his parts list though. He's hoping to buy a different cam, stronger valve springs and DOD delete kit in the next couple weeks. He has 2 - 3 different cam's he's considering. I know one is the stage 3 cam from Texas Speed and Performance. I'm not sure of the others he's considering or who he's going to use for the tune. I'll post up when we have it complete. We're in the process of getting ready to move so that may slow things down a bit too.

On my 2013 Silverado I had the BakFlip G2 bed cover and I *really* liked that one. For the 2014 I was looking for light weight and really didn't spend time looking for something else.

Cool to hear about the continued progress.

I've had 4 BakFlip F1's and I absolutely love them @ 60lbs. Quality product and several less expensive versions. Holds 500lbs on top is very secure opens partially or fully but is about $900-1100. I work out of mine though so I need the security and its a write off anyway.
